Viet Nam condemns India bomb blasts

Viet Nam strongly condemned the bomb blasts in Mumbai, India, on Wednesday, a spokeswoman from the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry said.

Spokeswoman Nguyen Phuong Nga made the statement yesterday, July 14, while answering reporters' question on Viet Nam's reaction.

"Viet Nam strongly condemns the bomb blasts in India's Mumbai city on July 13 that left dozens of people dead and hundreds injured," she said.

"We would like to convey our regards and deepest sympathies to the Indian State, Government, people and families of the victims."

Special relations with Laos to be preserved

The Vietnamese Party leader and a senior Lao Party official have said Viet Nam and Laos would do their best to preserve the special traditional friendship, solidarity and co-operation between them.

Party General Secretary and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong and visiting Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee Inspection Commission and Government General Inspector Bunthong Chitmany made this statement at a reception in Ha Noi yesterday, July 14.

Trong highlighted the Lao delegation's visit to Viet Nam and the results of the talks and co-operation between two delegations of the inspection commissions.

He proposed the two Parties' inspection commissions closely co-ordinate and regularly exchange experiences in implementing resolutions of their Party Congresses.

Earlier, Chairman of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee Commission for Inspection Ngo Van Du held talks with the delegation of the Lao Inspection Commission.

They focused on theory and practical experiences in Party inspection, supervision, discipline and building.

The Lao delegation also held a working session with the Vietnamese Government Inspection delegation, led by Inspector General Tran Van Truyen. They later visited the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

Russia prioritizes relations with Vietnam, says Medvedev

One of Russia’s foreign policy priorities is to constantly bolster and develop its strategic partnership with Vietnam, Russian President Dmitri Medvedev stressed on July 14.

During his reception for new Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Pham Xuan Son, Mr Medvedev said Russia highly appreciates Vietnam’s status and role in the Asia-Pacific region and in the world.

The president also expressed his delight at the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Russia, especially in energy, defence, and security.

He asked the Vietnamese ambassador to convey his best regards and wishes to senior Vietnamese leaders that Vietnam will succeed in its cause of renovation, construction and development.

The Vietnamese diplomat said it was his honour to assume his new position on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between the two nations and pledged to do his utmost for constant development of bilateral ties.

Argentina, Vietnam share experience in science, technology development

A delegation from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of Vietnam led by Do Hoai Nam, Director of Department of Technology Appraisal Examination and Assessment, has paid a working visit to Argentina.

The visit aimed to learn about management and development models of scientific projects in the Southern American country.

During a working session with the delegation, Agueda Suarez from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation of Argentina outlined the country’s research project management systems and pledged to provide information on investment forms in the fields of science and technology.

She also expressed hope that Vietnam would provide information on technological items which were given priority investment in Vietnam, with the aim of introducing them to Argentina’s businesses.
