Sang and Alberto cut the ribbon to officially unveil the statue of President Ho Chi Minh at the Presidential Palace yesterday.
The statue was created by Mexican sculptor Pedro Ramirez Ponzanell, who also sculpted the life-size statue of President Ho Chi Minh that was unveiled at the History Centre of Mexico City in 2009.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Alberto said the statue was a small gift but it manifested the affection of Mexican Labour Party members for the beloved Vietnamese President, a hero of national liberation and an international soldier who made great contributions to communist and labour movements.
Culture, Sports and Tourism Deputy Minister Le Khanh Hai thanked the Mexican Labour Party for the great present and called it an important event that would contribute to develop co-operation and friendship relations as well as comprehensive partnership between the two countries.
