Thai Senate President to visit Vietnam
President of the Senate of Thailand Teeradej Meepien will pay an official visit to Vietnam in the near future, announced the National Assembly’s External Relations Committee on December 19.
The visit will be made at the invitation of NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, the committee said.
Lao transport minister visits Vietnam

At a meeting in Hanoi on December 19, Mr Pholsena told Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc that the visit aims to strengthen the special traditional friendship between the two countries.
The Lao minister briefed the Deputy PM on discussions and cooperation between the two transport ministries as well as the signing of a bilateral comprehensive cooperative agreement in transport until 2015.
Minister Pholsena spoke highly of Vietnamese experts’ assistance in developing transport infrastructure in Laos.
He affirmed his intention to efficiently implement bilateral agreements, contributing to maintaining and promoting the Vietnam-Laos traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.
Deputy PM Phuc lauded the two ministries’ cooperation in experience sharing and human resource training and affirmed his support for the implementation of the two ministries’ future cooperative agreements.
Christmas greetings for religious dignitaries
On the occasion of Christmas 2011, a delegation from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) led by its President Huynh Dam visited the Bac Ninh Diocese Office on December 19.
Dam spoke highly of contributions by the Bishop, Catholic dignitaries and followers in the northern province of Bac Ninh to implement the guidelines and policies of the Party and the law of the State as well as their active participation in patriotic emulation movements.
He expressed his wish that, the Bishop would continue encouraging and guiding the Catholic people to adhere to the Party and State’s religious policies, thus strengthening the building of the great national unity bloc.
The same day, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc called on the Hanoi Archdiocese to offer greetings to Archbishop of Hanoi Peter Nguyen Van Nhon and other dignitaries.
The Hanoi Vice Mayor expressed her wish that the Hanoi Archdiocese would continue making contributions to the great national unity bloc, religious solidarity and socio-economic development.
Archbishop Peter Nguyen Van Nhon encouraged Catholic dignitaries and followers to implement the Party’s polices and State’s law.
Also on December 19, the Vietnam Catholic Unity Committee (VCUC) held a meeting with representatives of religious agencies and organizations, and outstanding Catholic people in Hanoi.
Cambodia, Vietnam to improve communications
Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son and Cambodian Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith signed a plan on information cooperation at a meeting in Phnom Penh on December 19.
Under the plan, the two sides will exchange high-level delegations and experience in press and publishing activities as well as radio/TV programme production and other publications to boost the mutual understanding and relationship between the two nations.
The two sides will create favourable conditions for information and communication agencies to disseminate information on the land, people, achievements, festivals and important events of the two countries.
The same day, Minister Son also worked with Cambodian Minister of Posts and Telecommunication So Khun and witness the signing of minutes between some major information, communications and telecommunications agencies of the two countries.
