Vietnam peace committee delegation visits Laos
Lao National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Pany Zathotou welcomed a delegation of the Vietnam Peace Committee, led by its Chairman and National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu, in Vientiane on Oct. 1.

At the meeting, Luu informed his host of the outcomes of the talks between the delegations of the Vietnam Peace Committee and the Lao Committee for Peace and Solidarity, emphasising that cooperation between the two committees over the past time contributed to raising people’s awareness on consolidating and fostering the special Vietnam-Laos friendship.
The two sides will strengthen comprehensive cooperation, especially in information exchange and external relations between them at international and regional forums in the coming time, he added.
They will also maintain delegation exchanges and bilateral activities, assist Vietnamese Agent Orange victims and Lao mine victims, strengthen multilateral cooperation and take part in the World Peace Council’s activities.
Luu also affirmed that Vietnam will do its best to keep and foster the bilateral friendship and said he believes that the seventh Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP 7) hosted by Laos for the first time will be successful.
The Lao NA Chairwoman said Laos is ready for the ASEP 7, expressing her belief that the meeting will help increase mutual understanding and effective cooperation between Asian and European Parliaments.
She thanked Vietnam for assisting Laos over the last years as well as the preparation of the ASEP 7, affirming that the Lao people will do their utmost to preserve and develop the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples.
On this occasion, the Lao NA Chairwoman, on behalf of President Chummaly Saynhasone, presented the Friendship Order to the Vietnam Peace Committee for its efforts in boosting the special Vietnam-Laos solidarity and friendship as well as effective assistance to the Lao Committee for Peace and Solidarity.
Party delegation attends Mozambique's party congress
A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Tran Dac Loi, attended the 10th congress of the Liberation Front of Mozambique (Frelimo) from Sept. 23-28.
Speaking at the congress, Loi highlighted the close relations between the CPV and Frelimo during the national liberation struggles of both countries.
He affirmed Vietnam’s consistent support for Frelimo ever since its founding 50 years ago, adding that he believed the long-lasting solidarity and friendship between the two nations will be further strengthened in the future.
With the participation of 1,858 delegates, the six-day congress underlined the correct policies of Frelimo which helped stabilise politics, promote economic development and reduce poverty in Mozambique.
It also stressed the country’s diplomatic policy towards Asia, focusing on enhancing cooperation with China and Vietnam.
The congress elected a new central committee with 180 official members and 18 alternate ones. Armando Emilio Guebuza and Filipe Paunde were re-elected as President and General Secretary of the Frelimo.
On the sidelines of the event, the Vietnamese party official met with leaders and members of Frelimo on measures to promote the relations between the two parties.
Cao Dai followers celebrate grand ritual
Cardinal Thuong Tam Thanh, Head of the Executive Council of the Cao Dai Church in the southern province of Tay Ninh, has called on Cao Dai dignitaries and followers to actively join in charity activities while practising their faith with the motto “serving both religion and society well”.
Thanh made the call at the sect’s grand ritual, Hoi Yen Dieu Tri Cung, which was held at Tay Ninh Church on September 30, drawing the participation of more than 100,000 Cao Dai followers and visitors nationwide.
He also thanked the Party and State for providing favourable conditions for Cao Dai followers to practise their faith.
As a major annual event of Caodaism on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn festival, Hoi Yen Dieu Tri Cung is also a chance for followers to offer fruits and food to the Great Mother to pray for favourable weather, a peaceful and prosperous country, and a joyful life for people.
