Eighth National Patriotic Emulation Congress to open on Dec 27
The congress will review the activities of the emulation patriotic movements and implementation of the state policies on rewards over the past five years.
The 8th National Patriotic Emulation Congress will open at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi on December 27 with 1,500 eminent delegates. Before the opening ceremony, they will visit President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and offer incenses at the Martyr’s Monument.
On December 26, the delegates attended a preparatory congress, listened to its agenda and regulations, and plans of meetings with ministries, departments and agencies and new appointments to the Presidential and Secretariat Boards.
The congress will highlight the cases of exemplary behaviour and discuss ways of improving the quality of patriotic emulation and rewards to contribute to a successful implementation of the socio-economic development plan for 2011-2015 period. A movement will be launched to follow outstanding examples in all fields together with “Following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples” movement.
Nearly 30 exemplary individuals and ogranisations in patriotic emulation movements and “Following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples” movement will present their reports at the congress.
Book on Vietnam-Laos special relations appraised

The council is co-chaired by Politburo member and permanent member of the
Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Truong Tan
Sang, and Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat of the Lao
People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee Bounhang Volachit.
The draft collection, which comprises four parts divided into 10 chapters, was
assessed as “Excellent”. It features the entire process of the establishment and
development of Vietnam-Laos special relations, as well as fundamental issues in
each field of the bilateral relations.
The research project affirms the Vietnam-Laos special relationship is the two
nations’ most valuable asset and rule to gain victory throughout their
revolutionary processes.
Regarding future bilateral relations, the compilers recommended Vietnam and Laos
uphold and develop their ties to a new level amid the rapid and deeper
globalization and international economic integration.
The two countries should carry out signed cooperation programmes, build a new
cooperation strategy for the years to come and step up education on the
Vietnam-Laos time-honoured relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive
cooperation, the compilers noted.
Cambodian, Vietnamese parliamentarians boost cooperation
A delegation of the Vietnam- Cambodia friendship parliamentarians group, led by Head of the NA committee for deputies’ affairs Pham Minh Tuyen, is visiting Cambodia from Dec. 22-27.
During the visit, the delegation met with
representatives of the Cambodia-Vietnam friendship parliamentarians group,
headed by permanent Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An.
At the meeting, the two sides informed each other of their countries’ political
situation and economic achievements and review their bilateral cooperative
activities.
They agreed to further exchange information and delegations so as to strengthen
friendship between the two nations.
The delegation was received by acting President of the Cambodian National
Assembly Nguol Nhel and visited some localities in the country as part of the
working visit.
