VN-Cuba strengthen linkage concerning news distribution

Dinh The Huynh, a member of the Politburo and head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Publicity and Education, has urged the news agencies of Viet Nam and Cuba to contribute to the friendship, solidarity, trust and comprehensive co-operation between the two countries.

Speaking to Cuba's Prensa a Latina News Agency, led by President Luis Enrique Gonzalez Acosta, in Ha Noi yesterday, June 28, Huynh said Viet Nam News Agency and Prensa Latina news agencies should provide information about the development in both countries.

The same day, the general director of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), Nguyen Duc Loi, held talks with the Prensa Latina president.

Loi said that sharing information between the VNA and the Cuban news agency had already been effective and mutually beneficial.

He said the Spanish language news produced by Prensa Latina was an important source of information about Cuba and the Latin America region for VNA.

To deepen bilateral ties, Loi asked Prensa Latina to create a link to Vietnamplus, the Viet Nam News Agency website to make it easier for readers to access its Spanish language news.

The two agencies agreed to expand co-operation in other forms of multimedia, especially television news.

Loi said he hoped that Prensa Latina would welcome students the Viet Nam News Agency assigned to Cuba and train them in reporting, editing and translating skills for periods of between three to six months.

The Prensa Latina President also promised to help facilitate the distribution of VNA's Viet Nam Pictorial in Cuba.

Public inspectors lauded for their efforts, achievements

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc yesterday, June 28, praised the achievements and efforts of the inspectorate sector in the first six months of 2011.

Speaking at a meeting to review state inspector performance in the first half of the year, Phuc acknowledged their outstanding work in handling the citizen complaints and denunciations, particularly on hot issues that captured public attention.

"As inspectors, you're worthy to become the mainstay of the Party, Government and people," Phuc said.

He asked participants to co-operate with relevant agencies in implementing the Resolution of the 5th Plenum of the Party Central Committee, completing the revising of the Anti-Corruption Law and the draft Law on Receiving and Handling Citizen Complaints to present to the next meeting of the National Assembly.

In addition, he asked inspector to further engage in State administration activities, take responsibility in corruption prevention and be pro-active in conducting inspection missions in accordance with the law.

VN, S Korea lift information ties

Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son is paying an official visit to South Korea at the invitation of its Minister of Public Security and Administration, Maeng Hyung-kyu.

The visit forms part of the activities marking the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries on December 22.
During a meeting with Minister Maeng Hyung-kyu yesterday, June 28, Son and his host briefed each other on their countries' development in information technology.

HCM City, Vientiane boost ties

Secretary of HCM City's Party Committee Le Thanh Hai met Lao's National Assembly Chairwoman Pany Yathotou yesterday, June 28. Hai was visiting the Lao capital to attend HCM City Days in Vientiane, a show to promote friendship between the two countries.
The Lao leader congratulated Viet Nam over the achievements it made in recent years.

Yathotou said that the Lao Party, Government, National Assembly and people would do their utmost to foster the two countries' relationship.
