Compliments sent to new Mongolian Parliament chair
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung yesterday, July 30, sent a message of congratulations to Zandaakhuugiin Enkhbold on being elected Chairman of the Parliament of Mongolia.
Vietnam, Cambodia enhance front cooperation
Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Vu Trong Kim welcomed his counterpart from the Solidarity Front for the Development of the Cambodian Motherland (SFDCM) Min Khin in Hanoi on July 30.
Kim said the spirit of regular and close cooperation committed at the international conference on building a borderline of peace and friendship between VFF and SFDCM in 2009 and 2010 and the meeting between the fronts of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia in 2011 has helped tighten solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
He also informed his guest of Vietnam’s socio-economic development and the implementation of the policy of great national unity, maintaining social consensus, ensuring national defence and security, expanding external relations and improving the country’s position in the world arena.
Min Khin, who is also Minister of Cults and Religion of the Kingdom of Cambodia, stressed that regular cooperation activities in all fields between the two countries have highlighted the solidarity, traditional friendship, helping bring Vietnamese and Cambodian people closer.
The two fronts agreed upon the time, location and the contents of the international conference on building a borderline of peace and friendship in 2012 and measures to foster their cooperation in the future.
Accordingly, this year’s conference will focus on raising awareness on Vietnam-Cambodia traditional friendship and long-lasting solidarity for the two people, especially those in border areas.
Additionally, the two fronts will boost cooperation and friendly exchanges at all levels, contributing to building a reliable and equal development region ASEAN and Asia-Pacific.
Central Highlands Steering Committee delegation visits Laos
A delegation of the Central Highlands Steering Committee led by its deputy head, Lieut. Gen Trieu Xuan Hoa, on July 30 met with Lao Deputy Prime Minister Asang Laoly in Vientiane as part of its visit to Laos from July 28 to August 3.
Informing his host about the Central Highlands’ socio-economic situation, Hoa said the region has enjoyed strong and comprehensive development with an annual average growth rate of nearly 12 percent and people’s material and spiritual well-being improved significantly.
The great unity between ethnic groups has been consolidated and the security and political situation remained stable, he noted.
He attributed the achievements to the Party’s leadership, efforts by the political system and support of the whole country as well as international friends, including Laos .
Hoa used the occasion to thank the Lao side for its great support to Vietnam during the war for national salvation.
Asang Laoly spoke highly of the visit which, he said, took place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year, the 50 th anniversary of their diplomatic ties and the 35 years of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation and Friendship Treaty.
He affirmed Laos’ resolve to stand side by side with Vietnam to enhance the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, contributing to peace, friendship, cooperation, regional and international integration, and prosperity of each nation.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Lebanon presents credentials
Vietnamese Ambassador to Lebanon Tran Ngoc Thach presented his credentials to Lebanese President Michael Sleiman in the capital city of Beirut.
At the ceremony on July 26, the ambassador conveyed State President Truong Tan Sang’s regards and best wishes to the President of Lebanon, affirming that Vietnamese leaders and people always highly value the two countries’ relations as well as welcome the official visit of the president to Vietnam.
Thach said the two countries have been creating a firm foundation and framework for bilateral ties in many fields, especially in trade. He pledged to do his utmost during his term to promote the multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries.
The ambassador also expressed Vietnam’s concern over situation of the Middle East , hoping for the stability in the region.
For his part, President Sleiman affirmed that he will pay special attention to boosting the two countries’ relations.
Ambassador Thach also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Adnan Mansour, Minister of Economy and Trade Nicolas Nahas and Minister of Labour Salim Jean Freissati to discuss measures to strengthen cooperation on foreign relations, economics, trade and labour between Vietnam and Lebanon.
