RoK media leaders awarded friendship insignia
The Directors of the Republic of Korea’s (RoK) Munhwa and Nanum Broadcasting Corporations, Kim Jae Cheul and Lee Jong Hyun, were awarded with Vietnam’s ‘For Peace and Friendship Amongst Nations’ insignia at a ceremony in Hanoi on July 2.
The honour was handed over by the President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), Vu Xuan Hong.
On addressing the event, Hong said that the award recognises their meaningful contributions to promoting friendship and cooperation between the two peoples, especially in humanitarian activities.
Hong praised Kim and Lee for their support for Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange (AO) in the past through providing scholarships to poor students as well as free health check-ups to poor people.
In early June, MBC arranged for 80 Vietnamese AO victims to visit the RoK and attend an exchange with their peers in the RoK as well as receive medical treatment in the country.
Kim and Lee said they will continue with their activities to support Vietnamese AO victims and step up the friendship between both peoples.
Vietnam, Laos hold friendship exchange at UN
A Vietnam-Laos friendship exchange took place at the headquarters of Laos’ Permanent Representative Delegation to the United Nation, on July 1.
The event was to mark the 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, attracting many Vietnamese and Lao people who work at the UN or in New York City.
On addressing the ceremony, Laos’ Ambassador, Saleumxay Kommasith and Vietnam’s Ambassador, Le Hoai Trung praised the two countries’ traditional ties over the 50 years, adding that their special relationship needs to be constantly developed in the future.
Ambassador Le Hoai Trung thanked the Lao people for their warm welcome and he said he hoped that the friendship between the two countries will last forever.
At the exchange, participants played sports and sang songs in praise of the excellent relations between Vietnam-Laos while sampling a selection of culinary specialities from both nations.
NA Chairman begins Lao visit
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung will lead a high-ranking parliamentary delegation on a three-day official visit to Laos from today, July 3, at the invitation of his Lao counterpart Pani Zahthotou.
Military officer visits Belarus
Sen. Lieu. General Ngo Xuan Lich, Head of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) has paid an official visit to Belarus.
His visit was made at the invitation of Major-General Alexander Gura, Assistant to the Defence Minister and Head of the Directorate on Ideological Work at the Belarusian Defence Ministry.
Lich’s visit was to enhance cooperation between the VPA’s General Department of Politics and the Directorate on Ideological Work of Belarusian Defence Ministry to develop the military in terms of politics, morale and ideological education, as well to discuss training Vietnamese officers in Belarus.
It also confirmed Vietnam’s external policy of independence, multilateralisation and diversification of international relations, in which the country has always treasured its friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Belarus.
During his time in Belarus, Lich and his delegation held talks with the Directorate on Ideological Work at the Belarusian Defence Ministry.
He also met with the Belarusian Defence Minister.
The Vietnamese delegation visited several military agencies as well as some historical and cultural sites around the country.
Lich said he believed that the relations and extensive cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus, in particular both armies, will develop further, especially after his successful visit.
