Many Lao newspapers on July 3 highlighted the importance of the visit by Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and praised the Vietnam-Laos special relationship.
The Pasason Newspaper, the official mouthpiece of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) published an editorial spotlighting Hung’s biography and welcoming his visit, as the Lao people are celebrating the Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam Friendship and Solidarity Year of 2012.
The article says the visit, which takes place from July 3-5, will strengthen the traditional relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation that exist between both countries, which have been developed stably in the interests of both peoples, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.
The article describes Vietnam and Laos as brothers that enjoy a special relationship, initiated by late President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihan and developed by later generations of leaders. It has become an invaluable asset for both countries and ties have been boosted in all fields, producing significant results.
The visits by Party, government and national assembly leaders from both countries as well as exchanges between the two countries have brought them closer together, further developing their special relationship, stated the article.
The Party and people of Laos highly appreciate the effective support that the Party, Government and people of Vietnam have given the country over the years, the article said, adding that Hung’s visit will deepen relations even further.
Also on July 3, other daily newspapers, such as “New Vientiane” also published various articles featuring Vietnam’s economic achievements as well as Vietnam and Laos’ special friendship.

His visit, starting on July 7, is being made at the invitation of Vietnam’s Party and State leaders.
President sends Independence Day greeting to Obama
President Truong Tan Sang and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on July 3 sent greeting to United States President Barack Obama to mark his country’s 236 th Independence Day (July 4).
Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also sent greetings to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The same day, President Sang sent greetings to President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to mark his nation’s Independence Day (July 3).
Prime Minister Dung congratulated his Belarusian counterpart Mikhail Myansnikovich.
Foreign Minister Minh also congratulated his counterpart Sergei Martynov on the special occasion.
CPV delegation on African tour
A delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) recently visited Mozambique to attend a ceremony marking the 50 th anniversary of the Liberation Front of Mozambique (FRELIMO).
At the ceremony, Mozambican President and President of FRELIMO Armando Guebuza applauded the presence of 12 fraternal parties, which, he said, reflects their friendship and solidarity with the Party, Government and people of Mozambique.
On speaking at the event, the head of the Vietnamese delegation and Secretary of the Party Committee in northern Ninh Binh province, Bui Van Nam, congratulated FRELIMO and the Mozambican people on the successes they have recorded during their struggle for independence, peace, development and prosperity over the past half a century.
He stated that Vietnam is keen to expand mutually beneficial ties with Mozambique, which contributes to peace, cooperation and development.
During their stay in Mozambique, the CPV delegation met with Prime Minister Aires Ali and leading FRELIMO officials to discuss measures to strengthen the traditional friendship and cooperation between both Parties and States.
The Mozambican leaders praised the success of Movitel, a joint venture between Vietnam’s military telecommunications corporation Viettel and a Mozambican partner. It is expected that more Vietnamese businesses will invest in Mozambique in the future.
After concluding their visit to Mozambique, the Vietnamese delegation travelled to Angola, where they met with Afonso Van-Dunem Mbinda, Secretary of the People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) Central Committee for External Affairs.
Afonso said that the MPLA is interested in learning from Vietnam’s experiences as it is carrying out a policy of encouraging national accord to ensure a peaceful, united and stable country. He added that his party will send a senior level delegation to Vietnam later this year.
