Party leader visits Nghe An central province

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited the mountainous Mon Son commune in Con Cuong district, on September 5, as part of his trip to inspect socio-economic development, defence and security in the central province of Nghe An.



The Party leader paid special attention to production and the living conditions of ethnic groups in the commune, where 82 percent of the population are Thai ethnic minority people who mainly make their living from agricultural and forestry work.

He said he is pleased with the achievements made in economic development and Party building work by the local party committee, authorities and people.

The commune’s transport infrastructure has been greatly upgraded, which has helped with the development of public works and schools.

Trong said he hopes that the local Party committee, authorities and people will uphold their revolutionary tradition and potential to strive for sustainable poverty reduction and building new-style rural areas.

He urged the Nghe An authorities to strengthen defence and security, while expanding external relations and improving the living conditions of ethnic people and State-policy beneficiaries.

Also during his trip, Secretary General Trong visited Border Station 557 and praised the officers and men’s for their efforts in defending border security and sovereignty.

Theory Council convenes fifth session

The fifth session of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC)’s Theory Council opened in Hanoi on September 5 under the chair of the council’s head Dinh The Huynh.

During the two-day session, council members discuss draft reports on the basic and comprehensive renovation of Vietnam’s education and training, and the scientific and technological development for industrialisation, modernisation and international integration.

Several theoretical and practical issues for improving the efficiency of State-owned enterprises are also put on table.
Speaking at the event, Huynh, Politburo member, Secretary of the CPVCC and head of its Commission for Popularisation and Education, urged the participants to clarify the role and position of the State sector in a socialist-oriented market economy.

He also asked the council to define urgent tasks and breakthroughs in renovating perceptions on education and training as well as building and perfecting management mechanisms in this field.

Regarding science and technology, the council should clarify new viewpoints and perceptions as well as put forth the main contents of renovation of mechanisms, policies and implementation methods, Huynh said.

Vietnam willing to help Laos train judicial staff

Vietnam will try its best to assist and cooperate with Laos in training judicial personnel, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung at a reception for visiting Lao Minister of Justice Chaleuan Yapaoher in Hanoi on September 5.

Dung spoke highly of the results of the talks between Chaleuan Yapaoher and his Vietnamese counterpart Ha Hung Cuong, saying that the cooperation between the two ministries over the past time has been making practical and effective contributions to the Vietnam-Laos special relationship in all aspects.

The PM affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always supports the cooperation between the two ministries and is ready to share the country’s experience in building the judicial sector.

For his part, Chaleuan Yapaoher expressed his hope for more intensive and effective cooperation from Vietnam in the judicial sector, especially in personnel training and law-making.
