Leaders pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh

On February 6, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung offered incense at House 67 in the President Ho Chi Minh relic site in Hanoi on the occasion of the forthcoming Lunar New Year.

During their separate visits, the two leaders paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh, who made great contributions in the fight for national independence and construction.

They asked the relic site staff to preserve cultural heritages and introduce Uncle Ho’s life and career to international friends.

Established in 1967, House 67 was where the late leader worked and lived during the war launched by the US in the north.
Millions of people visit the site every year.

Leaders offer incense to President Ho Chi Minh

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on February 6 visited and burnt incense at the Ho Chi Minh Relic Complex on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival.

PM Dung expressed his gratitude to late President Ho Chi Minh who brightened the nation’s landscape and made great contributions to the struggle for national liberation and construction.

He praised complex officials and staff's efforts in collecting and preserving objects related to late President Ho Chi Minh and called on them to continue their intact preservation of all objects for future generations and international friends to better understand the late President’s revolutionary life.

Annually, the complex welcomes millions of domestic and foreign visitors, showing the deep sentiments of the Vietnamese people, international friends towards the beloved Ho Chi Minh.

The same day, National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung also came to offer incense at the complex.

Lao Ambassador pays Tet visit to Vietnamese embassy

Ambassador Ly Bounkham and staff from the Lao Embassy on February 6 paid a New Year visit to their Vietnamese counterparts in Bangkok, Thailand.

This is one of the follow-up activities marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties and 35 years since the signing of the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty between the two nations.

The Lao Ambassador to Thailand praised the Vietnam-Laos special ties and cultural activities launched during the past year as a contribution to strengthening the solidarity, friendship and close-knit relationship.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Ngo Duc Thang thanked the Lao Embassy and its staff for their good sentiments towards the Vietnamese people, saying that the time-honoured friendship and cooperation over the past 50 years delivered practical benefits to both sides.

Improvements in bilateral relations in politics, economics, education and training, and national security and defence have helped lift the two countries’ regional and international status, Thang said.

Iran’s National Day observed in Hanoi

The Iranian Embassy in Vietnam gave a party on February 6 celebrating the 34th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution (February 11) and launching activities to mark 40 years of Iran-Vietnam diplomatic ties this year.

Ambassador Hossein Alvandi Behineh stressed that over the past 34 years, Iran has gained remarkable achievements in socio-economic and scientific-technological development.

He expressed pleasure at the growing ties between the two countries, announcing that a wide range of events, including a traditional Iranian music performance, a cultural week and a film festival, will be hosted by the embassy this year to celebrate bilateral diplomatic ties.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Phuong Nga praised Iran’s successful organization of the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in 2012, an organisation of which the Islamic nation is assuming the presidency role.

She hoped that the two countries’ friendship and cooperation will continue be strengthened for mutual benefits and for regional and global peace and development.
