Chairman of the Government Office - Vu Duc Dam.
Talking to the press on Sunday, September 29, Dam said the government had requested ministries to report on the work and recommendations on the necessary number of deputy ministers to ensure operation.
Currently the Ministry of Internal Affairs is making research to suggest the necessary number of deputy ministers for each ministry. "In the future, the Government will consider to assign suitable numbers of deputy ministers for each ministry, not being fixed at 3 or 4," he said, adding that the government would report to the competent agency of the Party to make the final decision.
The story of the high number of deputy ministers at some ministries was mentioned in the National Assembly session in September. Meanwhile, under the Government’s degree dated 2012, each ministry must have no more than four deputy ministers. For big and important ministries, they may have more than four but must be approved by the Prime Minister.
However, at present, all ministries have at least five deputy ministers, particularly the Ministry of Finance with up to nine deputy ministers.
