Party Central Committee’s meeting enters 4th working day

The fourth working day of the 13th meeting of the 11th Party Central Committee took place in Hanoi on December 17.

Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Le Hong Anh presided over the morning discussion, which focused on a draft report on reviewing the leadership and directions of the 11th Party Central Committee.

Participants also gave feedback on draft reports summarising the implementation of work regulations of the 11th Party Central Committee, the Political Bureau, and the Secretariat, as well as the Party building resolution adopted at the Party Central Committee’s fourth plenum.

In the afternoon, Politburo member Le Hong Anh delivered a report of the Political Bureau defining time, contents and programmes of the 12th National Party Congress.

Meanwhile, Politburo member To Huy Rua, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of its Organisation Commission, presented the Political Bureau’s reports on work and election regulations of the 12th National Party Congress.

Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung chaired the afternoon session.

The 13th meeting of the 11th Party Central Committee is scheduled to run through December 22, giving significant attention to inclusive preparations for the 12th National Party Congress.

DPRK Ambassador vows to boost relations with Vietnam

Ambassador of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to Vietnam Kim Myong Gil has said he will devote his efforts to propel the sound relations between the two countries forward.

He made the remark at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh in Hanoi on December 16.

The diplomat showed his delight at the significant achievements that Vietnam has gained in various fields, which helped increase the country’s position in the global area.

He also wished Vietnam success of the 12th National Party Congress.

For his part, Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh confirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to relations with traditional friends, including the DPRK.

He appreciated the two countries’ effective coordination in conducting activities to celebrate the 65th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.

He expressed his belief that the Ambassador will make active contributions to enhancing friendship and cooperation between the two countries during his tenure in Vietnam.

Cambodian Senate President concludes Vietnam visit

President of the Cambodia Senate Say Chhum left Hanoi on December 17, concluding his three-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.

During his stay in Vietnam, the Cambodian Senate President held talks with NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and paid courtesy visits to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Truong Tan Sang. He also met with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Vice NA Chairman Huynh Ngoc Son, who is also President of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Parliamentarians Group.

At the meetings, the two sides reached consensus on a range of important contents regarding the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries’ law-making bodies.

The two sides expressed their delight at the fruitful legislative ties, as evidenced by regular exchanges of delegations at all levels and experience, cooperation in personnel training, and their mutual support at regional and international parliamentary arenas such as the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

In the spirit of the traditional friendship and fine collaboration, the two sides agreed to increase all-level delegation exchanges and mutual support at parliamentary forums.

The two legislative bodies will promote their role in supervising the realisation of agreements reached by the two Governments, especially those relating to cooperation in border demarcation and marker planting, as well as in economics, trade, investment, culture-education and national defence.

Vietnam will provide more technical and personnel training assistance for the Cambodian legislature while educating the two countries’ people, especially the youth, about the traditional solidarity and friendship.

The two sides also agreed to continue consulting each other about global issues of shared concern.

Vietnamese, Cambodian provinces pay heed to communications ties

A delegation from Cambodia’s Svay Rieng led by director of the provincial information department Keo Chanly had a working session with local media in the Mekong Delta province of Long An on December 16.

The meeting was part of the two localities’ cooperation deal to boost exchanges and contribute to developing the relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

At the discussion, both sides sought collaboration in covering stories by local press and television, focusing on culture, science-technology, trade and tourism.

They also encouraged delegation exchanges and joint reports.

They agreed to invite reporters from the two countries to cover regional and international events.

Vietnamese General greets Cuban guest

General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and Deputy Minister of National Defence hosted a reception in Hanoi on December 17 for visiting Air Defence Commander Major General Tomas Valdes Hernandez from Cuba’s Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR).

The Vietnamese officer thanked Cuban people for their assistance provided for Vietnamese peers in their past struggle for independence and the current national construction.

He voiced that the relations between the VPA and Cuba’s Revolutionary Armed Forces recorded new developments and t he two sides have maintained exchange of delegations at all levels.

For his part, Tomas showed his joy at Vietnam’s strong development, saying that he believes the affiliation between Cuba and Vietnam and their armies will be stronger in the coming time.

Guangxi yearns for pragmatic cooperation with Vietnam

The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China hopes to beef up practical cooperation with Vietnam across sectors, a local official has said.

First Vice Governor of the region’s People’s Government Tang Renjian made the remark while meeting Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh in Hanoi on December 17.

Local authorities and people attach great importance to consolidating the traditional friendship and cooperation with Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and localities, especially when it comes to infrastructure connectivity projects, he said.

Deputy PM Minh extolled the positive developments in the bilateral cooperation and proposed the Chinese province continue to work alongside Vietnam to realise common perceptions reached by leaders of the two countries, while promoting affiliation in economics, trade, investment, transport, agriculture, and tourism.

He said he expects the two sides would implement effectively Vietnam-China land border documents as well as finalise all necessary procedures to open and upgrade border gates facilitating the transportation of goods and passengers, and build a shared borderline of peace, friendship, stability and development.

President appoints new prosecutors

President Truong Tan Sang yesterday decided to grant the title of Prosecutor of the People's Supreme Procuracy to five senior prosecutors and high-ranking officers of the body's different departments.

While granting the titles, Sang stressed that prosecutors of the People's Supreme Procuracy are important positions through which the procuracy executes its functions. Thus, he asked those newly appointed to strictly perform their jobs and continue to improve their professional morality as well as skills.

On the occasion, he also asked the procuracy to continue improving their work quality to avoid false verdicts, while also creating opportunities for those with talents and integrity to strive and contribute.
