Update news green transport
Hanoi has ordered a comprehensive review and data collection of gasoline-powered and electric vehicles across 126 communes and wards in preparation for a shift toward clean energy transportation.
Hanoi is advancing green transportation as part of its sustainability goals but faces challenges like limited charging infrastructure, inconsistent regulations, and high electric vehicle costs.
By the end of 2026, at least 10% of parking spaces in existing buildings and 30% in new projects in Hanoi must have EV chargers.
To implement the Prime Minister’s Directive 20, support policies covering financial, technical, and communication aspects to ban gasoline-powered vehicles must be introduced promptly.
Following the Prime Minister’s directive, Hanoi is planning to reduce gasoline and diesel-powered cars and motorbikes.
From July 2026, Hanoi will begin banning gas-powered motorbikes in central districts, raising questions about what happens to millions of vehicles.
