VietNamNet Bridge – A range of films based on Grimm’s Fairy Tales will be shown during the German Film Week at the Goethe Institute, Hanoi from January 11-18.


The programme includes children’s classics such as Cinderella, Rapunzel, The Wishing-table and The Gallant Tailor (Seven at one Blow).

Also on show is Under Snow, a documentary by Ulrike Ottinger which explores the ancient world of a Japanese mountainous village.

The doco will be followed up by Christian Petzold’s Barbara, a story about a young doctor in the German Democratic Republic (DDR) facing the conflict between choosing to stay or flee.

Another film, This ain’t California, is about a clique of friends who helped establish the skateboarding scene in the DDR.

Vincent Wants to Sea is an award winning, unusual road movie about a  sufferer of Tourette's syndrome called Vincent, who embarks on a journey to the sea to spread the ashes of his recently deceased mother.

The event will be concluded with Men in the City 2, a very successful comedy from the 2012 German Film Festival.
