VietNamNet Bridge – Thai Minh, who won third prize at the Northwest Guitar Festival 21 in the US, will return to Vietnam to participate in “Back to Basics”, an event for guitar lovers.

Northwest Guitar Festival 21 is the largest guitar festival in northwestern America and Canada, held in Washington in 2011. This is an annual event since 1990 for music students. Vietnamese student Thai Minh, 24, won the third prize.

Minh went to the US in 2008 to study at the University of Puget Sound, with a full scholarship. He is now a master-degree student of performing guitar and an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin.

During his summer vacation in Vietnam, Thai Minh will perform in the Back to Basics guitar show on August 11 at the L’Espace Hanoi.

Thai Minh will play a guitar that was made in 1981. He bought this guitar from an American guitar collector at the price of $10,000. This is also a gift of Thai Minh’s mother for her son when Thai Minh decided to give up business to pursue art.
