Many hotels in Ha Long city in the northern province of Quang Ninh have hiked the prices of their rooms to 1.5 – 2.5 times normal this peak season, with prices especially high at weekends.

Ha Long city has been packed out with a large number of visitors, mostly domestic, with families and groups of friends taking their summer holidays. Main roads around Bai Chay tourist site have been affected by heavy traffic congestion during peak hours. At present, Ha Long city has more than 12,000 rooms and 80 hotels ranging from 1 to 5 stars to meet the increasing demands of tourists.

According to managers of 3 and 5-star hotels, for July, their hotel rooms have been fully booked on weekends, with some reserved two months ago. The average occupancy rates and prices have remained fairly stable.

However, at some other hotels, the price has been increased to VND800,000-VND1.2 million per room.

The prices of food and drink services have been relatively stable. Ha Long bay, beaches and entertainment site in Bai Chay and Tuan Chau Island have attracted a large number of visitors due to the diversified services and exciting entertainment activities on offer.

In the first half of the year, Ha Long Bay welcomed more than 1.8 million visitors, up 110% over the same period last year.
