VietNamNet Bridge – An exhibition of Ha Noi artist Dinh Thanh Van’s paintings featuring flowers has opened in HCM City.

“I have loved flowers since I was a child,” Van said.

“I like to paint flowers and send messages of love for nature and life through my paintings.”

Dinh Thanh Van – Hoa Si Cua Cac Loai Hoa (Dinh Thanh Van - The Painter of Flowers), as the exhibition is called, features 90 oil-on-canvas works portraying lotuses, sunflowers orchids and others.

The 59-year-old painter believes each painting is a peaceful place where one’s soul can relax and refresh. This reflects in her works, which always evoke cheerfulness and refreshment.

This is abetted by her use of vivid colours like red, yellow, and orange.

Le Xuan Chieu, a painter and Vice Chairman of the HCM City Fine Arts Association, said: “Van’s style of painting is strong, but also contains the gentleness and romance of a woman artist. Her use of colours is dynamic and creative.”

Van graduated in lacquer painting from the Ha Noi Industrial Arts University, and began to work on oil paintings in 2012.

As a member of the Viet Nam Fine Arts Association, she has taken part in several group exhibitions together with other members in Ha Noi. She has also held two solo exhibitions in the capital and this is her first one in HCM City.

“I hope my first exhibition in HCM City will bring local and foreign visitors relaxation and new motivation in life,” she said.

The exhibition, on at the Fine Arts Museum of HCM City, 92A Pho Duc Chinh Street, District 1, will remain open until January 15.
