Northern exposure: A landscape painting by To Ngoc Thanh is among more than 200 paintings by 17 Ha Noi-based artists on display at an exhibition at the HCM City Museum of Fine Arts. |
To Ngoc Thanh, the oldest artist in the group, said the exhibition features works by artists born from 1940 to 1984 in various styles like realism, symbolism, and abstract.
"We hope to bring Hanoian culture to HCM City to promote understanding between people in the north and the south," the 71-year-old said.
Thanh has 34 acrylic on canvas paintings depicting the peaceful villages and beautiful women of Sa Pa.
Bright reds and yellows portray the beauty and charm of the Dao Do (Red Dao) ethnic women in their gorgeous and colourful clothes while greens and browns convey the tranquillity of the land.
Other artists include Ngo Cao Giang, Pham Hong Vuong, Nguyen Xuan Luc, Pham Hong Sam, and Huong Nguyen.
The exhibition will go on until December 14 at the museum at 97A Pho Duc Chinh Street in District 1.
