Among attendees were State President Tran Dai Quang, Minister of Public Security, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Pham Minh Chinh Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commision, and more than 100 experts in the fields of social science, national defence and security.

In his address, President Tran Dai Quang said the symposium was a good occasion to study and analyse important points in the Party’s Resolution on building and defending the homeland.

“Opportunities are on our side in the course of advancing toward industrialisation and modernisation as well as in international integration,” he said.

However, he added, “many challenges are also lying ahead and they require us to exert efforts to overcome them."

President Quang was confident that through deep understanding and analysis of the 12th Party Congress Resolution, "we’ll come up with correct assessments; scientific and workable measures to successfully defend our national independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity in any circumstances."

He also asked participants to study developments in the country and come up with suggestions to firmly defend the homeland’s security and law and order.

“In your discussion, you should focus on practical and strategic measures that would lead to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 12th Party Congress,” President Quang emphasised.
