Hà Nội authorities granted certificates to 3,007 new enterprises in July, up 20 per cent over last year’s corresponding period, with a total registered capital of VNĐ24.1 trillion (US$959 million), up 4 per cent, according to the municipal People’s Committee.
However, 447 firms announced their dissolution and 2,015 others registered to suspend operations, up 52 per cent and 43 per cent, respectively. Meanwhile, 997 companies resumed operations, up 56 per cent.
Nearly 18,000 new enterprises were established in the capital city in the first seven months of this year, with a total registered capital of VNĐ162.1 trillion.
The figures represented year-on-year decreases of 2 per cent in the number of enterprises, and 9 per cent in the registered capital.
In the period, 2,500 enterprises were dissolved, a year-on-year increase of 18 per cent, and 18,200 registered to suspend operations, up 23 per cent. Besides, 6,600 companies restored operations, a 14 per cent rise compared to the same period last year.
During the seven months, Hà Nội attracted $1.3 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI), with 143 new projects worth $1.1 billion and 102 projects permitted to increase investment capital by $138 million.
A total of 118 foreign investors contributed capital and bought shares worth $77 million in the reviewed period.
Hà Nội’s index of industrial production (IIP) in July rose 2.3 per cent over the previous month and 6.2 per cent year-on-year.
The index increased by 5.2 per cent during the January-July period, with manufacturing-processing up 4.4 per cent, electricity production and distribution up 12.8 per cent, and water supply and waste and wastewater up 8.8 per cent. — VNS
