VietNamNet Bridge – Ha Noi People's Committee has approved a bus development project that aims to get 3.62 million people travelling by bus daily by 2020 – 25 per cent of real demand.
Under the project, the number of bus routes in the city will be increased to 91 in the 2011-15 period and 98 by 2020.
It is hoped there will be 2.23 million daily bus passengers by 2015 – 15 per cent of real demand.
Under the project, existing bus routes will also be upgraded with better roads, stations and information systems. Staff will also be trained.
Regulations governing building infrastructure and ticket selling systems will also be improved.
The project aims to get more people using public transport in a bid to reduce road congestion and environmental pollution.
