Ha Noi to open six more pedestrian zones

The Ha Noi People's Committee discussed extending walking space in Hoan Kiem District on Tuesday.

The city planned to open six routes including Hang Buom, Ma May, Hang Giay, Luong Ngoc Quyen, Ta Hien and Dao Duy Tu. The routes will be open from 6 or 7pm to 12am every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The project may also expand into the Hoan Kiem Lake area.

The district is required to submit a project report before the end of this month.

Vietnam Airlines releases tickets ahead of Tet

Vietnam Airlines has begun to sell tickets for flights from January 19 to February 16 for the pre- and post-Tet holiday (the Lunar New Year), which begins on January 31.

The national flag carrier said it would operate an additional 835 flights on nine major routes to meet the high demand for travel during the period.

The Ha Noi – HCM City – Ha Noi route will have an additional 385 flights, a 23 per cent increase compared to the ordinary schedule, while the Da Nang – HCM City – Da Nang route will have 218 extra flights, a 26 per cent rise.

There will also be more flights on seven other routes from HCM City to Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Vinh, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Quy Nhon and Buon Ma Thuot.

Hanoi Railway begins selling tickets for Tet

The Hanoi Railway Company announced on October 2 that it has begun to sell tickets for the coming Tet holiday season.

For days from January 16-29, 2014, about 148,878 tickets will be made available on the Saigon-Hanoi route.

For days from February 3-15, a total of 144,300 tickets will be available, which includes 55,000 tickets for the Hanoi-Saigon route.

For the Hanoi-Lao Cai; Hanoi-Hai Phong; Hanoi-Dong Dang routes, 9,100 tickets will be made available.

Cost of the tickets for 2014 Tet holiday season will increase by 2-10 percent, but bed tickets will not soar.
