VietNamNet Bridge – Vehicles that regularly travel on National Highway 8A, the section crossing Duc Tho town in the central province of Ha Tinh, are very familiar to a woman who usually stops cars on the road to ask for money.

Drivers are very angry because this situation has happened for a long time but the local authorities have not taken any action.

VietNamNet’s correspondents captured dangerous and bad scenes at Duc Tho town on July 14.

A middle-aged woman stopped luxurious cars on the road to ask for money. She lied down on the bonnet or sat down in front of cars until drivers gave her money. Within 15 minutes, the woman stopped four cars.

The woman only stopped 4-7 seated cars, not trucks or motorbikes. She received at lest VND20,000 ($1). If drivers gave her less than VND20,000, she did not accept and did not let them go.

Seeing correspondents take photos and filming her actions, the woman chased and insulted them.

Local people said that they did not know the woman’s name. They only knew that she came from Tung Anh commune of Duc Tho district. She went to the road each several days to stop cars for money.

“The National Highway 8A is a key road connecting Ha Tinh province to Laos. Hundreds of vehicles run on this road everyday. This behavior is very bad and unacceptable,” a driver from Ha Tinh said.
