Bui Quang Thanh opened the scoring for the visitors in the second minute. However, 20 minutes later, Nguyen Phong Hong Duy equalized for the hosts.

After the break, Duong Van Pho scored to give HAGL a 2-1 lead in the 48th minute.

Both sides used young players who trained at their own training centres in this match.

In other fixtures, Binh Phuoc lost to Quang Ninh Coal 0-2, Ca Mau beat Dak Lak 1-0, and Song Lam Nghe An edged Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN 1-0. While Nam Dinh beat Phu Yen 2-0 and FLC Thanh Hoa drew with HCM City 2-2.

This year’s competition, which features 24 teams including V.League 1’s 14 teams and National First Division’s 10 teams, will run until September 29.

The winner will walk away with prize of VND 1 billion (US$43,500).
