VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam Buddhist Shangha on December 11 held a lantern festival in the northern port city of Hai Phong to call for assistance for flood victims in the central Vietnam, pray for peace and prosperity for the country and pray for peace for the souls of martyrs.

The event had the participation of 5000 Buddhists and monks.

The requiem began with a performance of Buddhist followers –

The Goddess of Mercy with thousands of arms and eyes.

Buddhist monks are lighting up candles.

They beat the wooden bells and pray for the martyrs.

Senior Buddhism monks make rituals.

They pray for the country’s peace and prosperity and the peace for the world.

Burning incense for the people who died in the recent floods in the central region.
