Hang Trong folk paintings are one of the most outstanding folk painting genres in Vietnam, however are falling into oblivion. 

A book featuring Hàng Trống paintings has recently been released, offering a glimpse into an original genre of traditional Vietnamese woodcuts by artisans in Hanoi.

The exhibition is a part of the project “From tradition to tradition” which encourages young artists to preserve the folk art and values of cultural heritages.

Originated in Hanoi, Hang Trong folk paintings capture the quintessence of ancient capital city aesthetic.

Folk paintings printed on do (poonah) paper and how the paper is made will be introduced through the programme Vietnamese Poohnah Paper – Past and Present.
