VietNamNet Bridge – Nearly 20 police officers in Hanoi rescued a young girl who attempted suicide on May 28.

At 5.30pm, the Hanoi Fire-fighting Police Department received reports of a woman who was screaming on the rooftop of an apartment building on Nguyen Quy Duc Street, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi.

An ambulance, a ladder truck and 20 fire-fighters and policemen of Cau Giay District were sent to the scene.

The policemen were divided into two groups. One tried to talk and reassure the girl and another approached her from behind.

After over an hour of inefficient negotiation, police officers decided to control the girl by force. Being "caught" and injected with a sedative dose, the girl still screamed and frantically squirmed so the police could not take her to the ground.

The police had to bind her to a bamboo ladder to take her to the ground to ensure her safety. The girl was then taken to the hospital.
