Hanoi is among the top three favourite cities to travel for young Japanese people. The information is indicated in a survey revealed at a recent Investment and Trade Cooperation Promotion Conference between Hanoi and Japan.

A huge number of Japanese people travelling abroad in recent years, with the figure topping 18 million in several years, makes Japan one of the biggest slices in tourism pie worldwide.

Tourists from the Land of the Rising Sun are also admired worldwide for their behaviour and spending capacity. Therefore, Hanoi’s position among young Japanese people’s favourite destinations offers the city’s tourism sector a golden opportunity to grow.

"Statistics show that Japanese rank third among tourist arrivals to Vietnam. So I think Vietnam should seize the opportunity and boost tourism promotion in Japan," said Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director General of the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism.

Japanese visitors are also highly demanding in terms of safety and hygiene, requiring the city’s tourism sector to improve infrastructure to better their services.

Hidenobu Inamine, General Director of Ryukyu Company, Japan said Hanoi boasted a huge potential for tourism development.

He added "Hanoians are so friendly, yet there are more room for improvement regarding the city's infrastructure still has room for improvement".

Vietnam’s tourism sector expects to welcome one million Japanese arrivals this year. To achieve the goal, the city has organised tourism fairs and conferences and signed a number of cooperation memoranda of understanding with Japanese partners.-VNA
