VietNamNet Bridge – The capital city’s government has instructed local state agencies to join the Earth Hour 2011 and to call for Hanoi people to participate to prevent climate change.

The municipal People’s Committee has asked all state departments, governments of districts and towns to have plans to support the Earth Hour 2011 program and instructed relevant agencies to turn off unnecessary lights at the appropriate time.
The committee has also called for enterprises and local people to join the campaign.
The city will conduct various activities to improve local people’s awareness of the Earth Hour campaign and climate change from March 10-26. On March 26, the city will switch off lights during Earth Hour, from 8.30 to 9.30 pm.
The Earth Hour campaign was launched by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in 2007. This year around 130 countries with nearly 5,000 cities will join the campaign.
So far, 29 provinces and cities in Vietnam have confirmed their participation in Earth Hour 2011. The country began joining this campaign in 2009.
