Many visitors have traveled dozens of kilometers to pose for photos at a café in Hanoi uniquely decorated in celebration of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2.

Truong Tra My (22) and her friend traveled over 30km from Dong Anh commune to Duong Noi ward to enjoy coffee at the venue. She brought a hat and scarf featuring the red-and-yellow national flag for a cohesive photo look.
“I love how visually invested this place is. Every corner looks amazing in photos, so I had to bring a friend. A coffee and some makeup are all I need for a great shoot,” My shared.

Nguyen Hoa Chi from Nga Tu So chose a graceful white ao dai to stand out among the patriotic backdrop. She said she rented the outfit and scarf from the café for VND 60,000 (about $2.30).

Accessories like hair clips, flags, conical hats, and scarves printed with the national flag are popular among visitors for vibrant photo compositions.

The “This is the Voice of Vietnam” photo corner sees the most foot traffic. The slogan on the red signboard evokes memories of the iconic broadcasts ingrained in the hearts of generations.

Parents are also investing in special outfits for their children. For many, this is more than a photo opportunity - it’s a way to pass on patriotism to the next generation.

The café’s patriotic spirit is also reflected in its drinks. “Free Red Flag” and “Proud Yellow Star” are two newly launched beverages topped with powdered national flag symbols on cream. Drinks are priced between VND 40,000 - 60,000 ($1.50 - $2.30) per glass.

Soviet-era props, old signage, and slogans are also arranged throughout the space to enhance the retro ambiance.

According to the café owner, the entire decorative setup was handmade by the staff. This visual investment has significantly boosted the venue’s foot traffic.
