| Ten outstanding blind people were honored at the festival |
Among them are Mr. Hoang Van Ly, Vice Chair of the Association of Blind People of the Hoan Kiem District, who is a collaborator of the Radio Voice of Vietnam and some magazines for disabled people; Mr. Nguyen Trung Thai, who has enthusiastically disseminated knowledge on information technology to the blind; teacher Nguyen Van Hoan, who has diligently taught many blind students at Hanoi’s Nguyen Dinh Chieu School for Blind Students.
There are blind people who have challenged their fate to enrich themselves, for example, Mr. Ta Dinh Han, the owner of a massage shop of blind people. Han’s business offers jobs for 20 blind people who earn VND2 million (US$100) a month.
“I hope that blind people and disabled people in general, always overcome complexity to actively study, train and bravely participate in the community’s activities to seek suitable jobs for themselves,” said National Assembly Vice Chair Uong Chu Luu, at the festival.
Other activities at the festival for the blind included a competition on knowledge of the election law and the Party’s resolutions, a meeting with outstanding blind people, and an exhibition of products made by blind people.
