VietNamNet Bridge - Checking the baggage of two passengers, customs officers at the Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi, discovered seven horns (suspected as rhino horns), with a total weight of 23,5kg. The horns were hidden discreetly in a suitcase.





The two horn smugglers are identified as Nguyen Van Chien (born 1985, from Chi Thuy Commune, Phu Xuyen District, Hanoi) and Nguyen Van Than (born 1964, Yen Vien Commune, Gia Lam District, Hanoi).

According to investigators, on the night of November 4, when the flight QR610 from Doha (Qatar) just landed at the Noi Bai International Airport, customs officers discovered the two above men with doubtful signs.

Checking their luggage, customs officers discovered and seized seven animal horns, which are believed to be rhino horns, with a total weight of 23,5kg hidden discreetly in a suitcase.

At that time, the two objects could not show off any papers relating to the horns.

The Customs Office of Noi Bai International Airport seized the horns and the passports of the two traffickers.

The horns have been sent to the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology for assessment.

The case is being investigation.
