Military authorities transported a bomb, discovered in My Duc District, on the outskirts of Ha Noi, to Mieu Mon Military Airfield yesterday to safely destroy it.

The bomb was found by Nguyen Van Thanh, a local of Doc Tin Commune, while he was digging a pond in his field on Tuesday.

Weighing 200kg, the bomb is one metre long with a diameter of 30cm to 35cm.

The area had been petrol-bombed by the French army during the war.
