VietNamNet Bridge – Ha Noi's biggest electro and experimental music event, the Hanoi Sound Stuff Festival, will start on Thursday.

It will feature numerous talented sound artists and DJs from around the world and several international artists of Vietnamese origin.

Initiated by musician and electronic DJ Tri Minh, the festival creates a unique world of music and art with boundary-pushing sounds, creative performances and collaborations between international and Vietnamese artists.

Since the festival's debut in 2008, it has promoted upcoming Vietnamese artists as well as talented foreign artists. This year famous international artists of Vietnamese origin will also appear.

The festival will begin on Thursday with a music art film at Manzi Art Space from 2-5pm.

Festival goers will witness the development of a new generation of Vietnamese sound through the Sound Awakener project by 19-year-old Nguyen Hong Nhung.

Nhung quit her classical piano training in 2007 to focus on composition and improvisation. She will give a 30-minute performance at Manzi from 7.30-8pm.

Norwegian guitarist Gaute Granli will present a combination of chanting, guitar and a range of effects.

The night will also feature a performance by California-based Vietnamese musician Vanessa Van Anh Vo, best known for her work on dan tranh (16-string) zither.

Chris Brown, an American composer, pianist, and electronic musician, will create music for acoustic instruments and interactive electronics.

Vanessa Vo won an Emmy Award in 2009 for the soundtrack for the documentary Bolinao 52, which she co-composed and recorded, and the soundtrack for the Sundance best documentary and 2003 Academy Awards nominee, Daughter from Danang.

The night will close with a performance by Brett Zweiman & Others. They perform regularly in Ha Noi.

Street-art performance by graffiti artist Julian Vogel from the Berlin Clubnacht will take place at the Hanoi Creative City (1 Luong Yen Street) during the second day of Hanoi Sound Stuff Festival.

The day will include the screening of SubBerlin, a documentary about the German techno club Tresor.

During a roundtable discussion, founder of the Berlin Clubcommission, Lutz Leichsenring, and two Vietnamese-German DJs Chi Thanh and Chopstick will talk about the development electronic music in Berlin.

Chi Thanh and Chopstick will also give a live performances from 8pm until 11pm at Hanoi Creative City.

On Saturday, April 11, the Berliner artists will present the workshop The Art of Remixing at the Goethe Institute for those interested in the production of electronic music.

The Hanoi Sound Stuff Festival 2015's agenda will also include a performance of the initiator Tri Minh's quartet project Sound from Hanoi, which recently toured the United States. The performance will be on Saturday from 7-8pm at Van Ho Exhibition Centre, 2 Hoa Lu Street.

A rising star of the new generation of French musicians, Thylacine, will have his debut performance at the Hanoi Festival. He will present a new kind of soft and powerful electro music.

The music festival will end with a performance by two representatives from Israel, Daniel Mariuma and Moti Saadia, who are regular artists at Gay Pride in Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem.

While activities on day two will be free, ticket price for performances on the first and third days ranges from VND50,000 to 200,000.
