According to Vo Van Hoan, the Chief of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Secretariat, the total revenue of Ho Chi Minh City in the first ten months of 2016 is VND 80.5 trillion, a 3.57% year-on-year increase and reaching 79.95% of the 2016 set plan.

Ho Chi Minh City has received 464,631 international visitors since early this year, up 13.38% over the same period in 2015.

In October alone, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed 464,631 foreign visitors.

The Chief of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Secretariat said that over the past time, the city established many tourism promotion activities such as developing river tours, organising the ‘Ho Chi Minh City – 100 Interesting Facts’ programme and improving the quality of tourism services.

In addition, the city has hosted events such as the Conference Tourism AIME and the Southern Fruit Festival. The city has also participated at the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) and in the Tourism Promotion Organisation for the Asia Pacific (TPO).

Meanwhile, in the first ten months of 2016, the number of international visitors to Hanoi also rose rapidly, reaching nearly 3.2 million, a year-on-year increase of 23%.

Thanks to the advance in the number of visitors, Hanoi has earned over VND50.6 trillion worth of tourism revenue.

The impressive growth in the number of tourists was attributed to the improved infrastructure of the municipal tourism sector, higher quality of tourism services, and more diversified tourism products in addition to due attention to tourism promotion activities both at home and abroad.

The municipal Tourism Department is calling on strategic investors to participate in developing tourism around the West Lake area and the Red River, and in building a special tourism zone in Dong Anh district.
