HCM City to display fireworks to ring in New Year

HCMC will hold a 15-minute fireworks display and a laser lights show at the mid-town Bitexco Financial Tower on New Year’s Eve.

The two performances, sponsored by Bitexco Group, the owner of the 68-storey Bitexco Financial Tower skyscraper, are part of the city’s program to celebrate the New Year.

More than 1,300 fireworks shipped from France will be set off from the 52th floor of the building by France-based Ruggieri, which was responsible for a fireworks display at Burj Ai Arab (Tower of the Arabs) in Dubai.

The Bitexco building will close at 9:30 p.m. on December 31 in preparation for the fireworks and laser lights display. The streets around it, including Ton That Dam, Ham Nghi, Ho Tung Mau, Hai Trieu, Ngo Duc Ke and part of Ton Duc Thang, will be off-limits to the general public from 11 p.m. until 0:30 a.m.

The city will also have another fireworks display at Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11 at the same time.
