The US$50 million BRT system, expected to go into operation in the second quarter next year, is part of the World Bank-funded Ha Noi Urban Transport Development Project.

The route, 14.7 kilometres in length, stretches from Kim Ma Station along Giang Vo, Lang Ha, Le Van Luong, Le Trong Tan and Highway 6 to Yen Nghia Station.

Designed according to international standards, the new bus stop features ramp access for disabled passengers, modern ticket vending machines and smart card readers to check tickets. An automatic door system that opens as the bus stops aims to create a queuing culture among passengers.

Construction of 20 other bus stops for the BRT system will begin when this one is complete, according to the city's Urban Transport Development and Investment Project Management Board under the Transport Department.

Construction of separate road lanes and control centers at Kim Ma and Yen Nghia stations started in last year's first quarter.
