On November 5, police rescued a baby from a kidnapping ring that was said to share several similarities with the kidnapped baby boy. However, a DNA paternity test showed that the baby is not the one kidnapped at the hospital.
The baby, named Pham Van Truong, was finally found in Hanoi’s Dong Anh District on November 8, and the rescued baby was immediately transported back to the hospital. The baby’s health was in normal condition.
The kidnapper, a woman from Hanoi’s neighboring province of Bac Giang, was arrested. According to police, the arrest was made following a taxi driver’s information. The kidnapper is an infertile woman who has long been treated at the hospital for her infertility, so she knew all procedures at the hospitals well.
The baby’s father, Pham Xuan Chieu, was present at the hospital to receive his son. There was no need to carry out a DNA test as the baby’s parents have confirmed he was their son, who wore the same napkin and socks as on the day of kidnapping. The baby’s weight was also the same as on that day.
A doctor from the Central Obstetrics Hospital told Tuoi Tre the kidnapper is Nguyen Thi Le, 29, from Bac Giang Province, who had been treated for infertility at the hospital before she kidnapped the baby. Le had disappeared when the baby was reported missing.
The baby boy and his mother will leave the hospital this week.
Thousands of people welcomed the baby at the Central Obstetrics Hospital:

The hospital's director and the director of Hanoi Police Agency also wait for the baby.
