Opened in 2018, Phung Hung Mural Street depicts life in Hanoi in the 1980s with various paintings and exhibits painted by South Korean and Vietnamese artists. The 200-metre-long street, which lies in the downtown Hoan Kiem District, used to attract a great number of visitors thanks to its beautiful decorations.

However, the paintings have become faded and torn with time, and many of the exhibits have deteriorated or broken down. The street has also been encroached by vehicle parking and vendor activities. The street has gradually lost its visitors.

Hanoi authorities have been renovating the mural street since December 12.

Many artists have been invited to repair the paintings.

Police have also arrived to clear the pavement and deal with illegal encroachment on the street.

The street is expected to become a hot tourist attraction again after being upgraded.
