VietNamNet Bridge – The audience will have a chance to admire a Hanoi of the past, the present and the future when they visit the three-part exhibition entitled “Hanoi-The City of? Art” at the Goethe Institute in Hanoi.

The exhibition features paintings, etchings, engravings, photography, video works and installations by over 20 Vietnamese and international artists and will last until December 30. It is held in the Goethe Institute, 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Hanoi.

“The City of? Art” is curated by Natasha Kraevskaia and Lisa Drummond. Natasha participates in creating the Hanoi art scene with her “Salon Natasha”, and Lisa has for years been an expert on Vietnamese art.

The first exhibition in the series, held from November 25 to December 3, entitled “Hanoi: Nostalgic, utopian, romantic and idealized”, showed a collection of works by artists such as Bui Xuan Phai, Toan, Vuong Thao, Brian Ring, Do Phan and Tran Nguyen Hieu, for whom Hanoi is a romantic and nostalgic place.

The second part “Hanoi: Dystopian, realistic, and in a state of change” introduced works by Do Minh Tam, Vu Bich Thuy, Nguyen The Son, Vu Dan Tan und Nguyen Nhu Y among others and was held from December 7 to 13.

In the last display “Hanoi Private/Public” from December 16 to 30, a Hamburg photographer André Lütze will present his research work on the blurred border between private and public life in the Vietnamese capital.

The event celebrates 35 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany.
