VietNamNet Bridge – The public is now angry with advertisements for houses for low-income earners in Hanoi. The city’s Party Secretary Pham Quang Nghi on April 4 made a visit  to an apartment block for low-income earners in Kien Hung ward, Ha Dong district.

The Hanoi Party Chief paid a visit to some families in the apartment block and checked some apartments that are transferring to low-income buyers.

According to the investor, Vinaconex Xuan Mai company, the apartment block includes 328 apartments, averaging 64 square meters. The investors signed contracts with 102 poor families. The remaining 266 apartments will be sold in the form of drawing lots. However, all participants in the draw must prove that they are low-income earners. The investor has handed over five apartments. The remaining will be passed to buyers in April.

This apartment block is one of the five buildings for low-income earners built in Kien Hung ward, Ha Dong district, with a total of 1,512 apartments. Over 3,500 low-income earners have registered to buy 864 constructed apartments.

Responding to advertisements to sell houses for low-income earners in Kien Hung ward that were posted on the Internet several days ago, the Hanoi Department of Construction’s Deputy Director Nguyen Quoc Tuan said the department and Hanoi police are investigating the case. The apartments that are offered for sales will be revoked. The department and the investor will make inspection to ensure that apartments are sold to low-income families.

“We asked investors to make agreements with buyers. If the buyers break the regulations, their apartments will be revoked,” Tuan said.

Hanoi’s Vice Chair Phi Thai Binh admitted that the most difficult stage in housing projects for low-income earners is housing distribution.

Party Secretary Nghi asked relevant agencies to urgently investigate and deal with the trade of apartments for low-income families.

“Any case of violation must be penalized.  Apartments that are already sold but are not used for a long time or leased must be revoked. Those who buy apartments to trade them will be fined while the apartments will be revoked,” Mr. Nghi said.

Hanoi is implementing 11 projects to build houses for the poor.
