The Hanoi People's Committee has approved a pilot operation of an electric bus service designed to serve residents and tourists visiting key attractions in the Hoan Kiem and Ba Dinh areas.

The plan was proposed by the Department of Construction in Report No. 190/BC-SXD dated July 30, 2025. The pilot project aims to provide a clean-energy transportation solution for sightseeing destinations such as President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and Hoan Kiem Lake.

Electric buses under this pilot will temporarily apply the public passenger transport service rates for clean-fuel (CNG) buses, in accordance with Decision No. 2307/QD-UBND dated May 25, 2021. The pilot program will run until December 31, 2025.

The Hanoi People’s Committee has assigned the Department of Construction to lead and coordinate with the Department of Finance and other relevant units to organize the pilot operation in compliance with legal regulations. The project aims to ensure safety, reduce the use of personal vehicles, ease traffic congestion, and cut down pollution.

Authorities will review and adjust the operational targets to reflect real-world demand, ensuring effective, convenient service that attracts public use. The Department of Construction is also tasked with compiling and evaluating the pilot results to report to the city government by December 2025.
