Fireworks and a drone light show will be organized to celebrate Hanoi's 70th Liberation Day anniversary on October 10.

These are two of the highlight activities in the plan as the commemoration will be held at the national level.

Among them are activities promoting the image of the capital and Vietnam; gratitude activities to honor and appreciate the revolutionary contributors; seminars, exhibitions and conferences; renovating, restoring and attaching signs to cultural and spiritual venues and relics; organizing cultural - artistic performances; awarding the Ho Chi Minh Medals and honoring individuals in the "Good People, Good Deeds" and "Outstanding Capital Citizens" programs.

The special fireworks and lighting art performances will take place on the evening of October 10.

In terms of popularizing the city's beauty and culture, Hanoi will organize number of activities towards the 70th anniversary.

These include contests with the theme "70 years of the Capital's Liberation Day" and "Ambassador - Reading Culture"; a film week commemorating the Liberation Day; launching literary and art writing contests on Hanoi and the Liberation Day; organizing the Red River Delta Photo Festival, Peace and Culture Day, Hanoi Marathon - Heritage Race, Hanoi Open dragon boat racing; second Hanoi Autumn Festival and Hanoi Ao Dai (Long Dress) Tourism Festival.

Regarding gratitude activities, the city leaders will visit President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and commemorate national heroes at Bac Son Martyrs Monument and Mai Dich Martyrs Cemetery; offering flowers at the Monument “Determined to Brave Death for the Survival of the Fatherland” and Hanoi - Winter 1946 Monument.

The city delegation will visit, give gifts and offer incense at Martyrs' Cemetery and revolutionary historical relics in Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Ha Giang and Quang Tri provinces. They will also visit and present gifts to veterans who participated in the resistance war against the French, and honor the sacrifice of martyrs and war invalids.

The city will also support building and repairing houses for poor and near-poor household items and people who made meritorious services to the revolution.

The commemorating activities aim to widely popularise and educate officials, party members, people of all walks of life, and armed forces about the great significance of the capital's Liberation Day, affirming that the great leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and late President Ho Chi Minh; the spirit of great national solidarity; and the will, determination and strength of the Vietnamese People's Army are the decisive factors in all victories of the Vietnamese revolution.

These activities are also to improve the quality of life of the capital's residents, especially those in remote areas and ethnic minority areas. At the same time, Hanoi's beautiful images will be widely introduced and promoted to domestic and international friends. - VNS
