The Ha Noi police have identified five persons who used fake websites to illegally appropriate other people's property.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Minh Quang, chief of e-commerce team of the Ha Noi police department for high-tech crime prevention, the suspects' names are Ngo Xuan Long, Pham Quang Hieu, Nguyen Van Quyet and Bui Phat Hien, as well as Ha Manh Thanh, all aged between 18 and 21.
The accused created 10 websites such as napthefree.com, napthephone.com and napthedienthoai.tk, and appropriated more than VND500 million (US$23,800) within a short time.
During the investigation process, the e-commerce team also discovered that Nguyen Van Quyet (born in 1997 in the northern province of Bac Ninh) created fake Facebook addresses of more than 1,000 Facebook accounts.
Lieutenant Colonel Quang said that several fake website units have defrauded some telecommunications providers such as Viettel, Mobifone and Vinaphone.
The fake websites were often used to post false promotions and the amount of money mentioned in these was usually higher than the genuine promotions, Quang added.
The false promotion advertisements were posted on popular social networking sites to entice users.
If the users became interested in their advertisement, the criminals would guide them to fill the recharge code and attach serial number tags. The victim would lose his money after doing as per the request of the site.
Quang reported that the Ha Noi police will continue to investigate and bring the criminals to justice.
