VietNamNet Bridge – Police of Cau Giay district, Hanoi--has reports of an unknown man who used a knife to slit the back of female students.


Cau Giay district is the home to many universities and boarding houses for students. Rumor has spread recently about a young man who attacked female students at night or in the early morning. Victims only knew that they were slit on their backs when blood bled all over their back. The rumor has made local residents anxious.

Lieutenant colonel Nguyen VanQuyen, a senior police officer of Cau Giay district, confirms that the rumor is true. At least two victims have reported the attacks to the police. These cases happened three months ago.

The first case happened on the morning of January 31, to a student of the Hanoi Trade and Tourism College. A strange man used a sharp item to stab the back of this student when she was walking to her school. The strange man ran away while the victim was brought to a hospital by local residents.

The second case was reported on February 13, by a student of the Hanoi Trade University. According to the victim, she was slit on her back by a strange man while she was walking from her school to her home in late afternoon.

Cau Giay police are checking doubtful subjects to search for the culprit. Police have also ambushed at some sites.
