VietNamNet Bridge – The Hanoi administration has issued the plan for purchasing public cars in 2013-2015, with the ceiling price of VND720 million (around $36,000).

Under the current regulations, officials who are permitted to use public cars at work include the chiefs, vice chiefs of departments of centrally-governed cities, party secretaries, vice party secretaries of districts and towns, chairs and vice chairs of district-level people’s councils and people’s committees.

State agencies that have officials of the above categories are allowed to purchase cars of up to VND720 million to serve these officials.

If they already have cars, which have ran for at least 250,000km, they have the right to sell the old cars to buy new ones. However, the number of new cars must not exceed the current number of cars.

State departments and agencies under the Hanoi People’s Committee can have up to two cars. Newly-established agencies can have only one car.

The new regulations aim to practice thriftiness at state bodies in Hanoi.
