A man in Hanoi with a special passion for reptiles is raising and living with 30 snakes from around the world.

Nguyen Viet Anh, born in 1986, is well-known among the reptile lovers because of his wide collection of snakes, pythons, and Chinese water dragons. Anh said he was fascinated with the animals since he was small and wanted to collect as many animals as possible.

He currently owns 30 snakes that were all checked and have proper papers before being brought into Vietnam.

"Snakes are very clean and have simple nutrition needs. They are not loud. If they are taken care of properly, they can live from 10 to 20 years," he said. "Snakes don't require frequent outdoor walks like dogs but they still need to be looked after carefully. They need to bathe themselves too, but they just require a bowl of warm water."

His 5-year-old daughter, Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, also often plays with the snakes that have been tamed and familiar with being handled by people. A snake can cost from some hundred thousand to millions VND depending on the age and species.
