Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tran Nam says that 90 percent of State-owned houses in Hanoi have been sold to people. The remaining houses have not been sold yet, owing to legal hindrances and other reasons. The upcoming inspection is expected to help the Ministry of Construction to understand the situation to issue new regulations on State-owned house management.
“Hanoi does not have as many as complaints over the sale of state-owned houses like HCM City. However, this kind of house sells slowly,” Nam says.
By mid-2011, nearly 312,000 state-owned houses throughout the country were sold, accounting for 84 percent. Of the number, Hanoi sold nearly 155,000 houses and HCM City with 95,300 houses. At present, there are about 94,000 state-owned houses, including nearly 60,000 listed for sale.
The Ministry of Construction is compiling new regulations on selling state-owned houses. Accordingly, the price will be defined based on the remaining value of the houses in comparison with the price for new houses, which is set by provincial governments. The price of land is set by provincial governments.
