On Saturday night, at the music talent search and contest, Tung performed the ballad Right Here Waiting for You by Richard Marx – the song that was requested by the judges, with a lot of emotion before rapping to Khong Can Them Moi Ai Nua (Don't Need Anyone Else) by Mr. Siro that he chose to stage by himself.
Commenting on Tung's performance, South Korean music producer and judge Kim Do-hoon said, although Tung has been influenced by the performing style of singer Taeyang while he was training in South Korea, during the finale in Ha Noi, he had brightened his chances with his own style.
With this victory, Tung – a student of the British University Viet Nam – has received total prize money of VND7.5 billion (US$357,000), including training expenses in South Korea, production of a music video and album, a contract with an agent to launch his singing career, and VND600 million in cash.
Tung's best friend, Hoang Son bagged the second prize, while two women Thu Giang and Kim Cuong grabbed the third and fourth prizes, respectively.
The contest had been on since December last, and had attracted more than 3,000 youngsters. However, only 15 of the best contestants were given the chance to join a professional training course in vocal art and dancing in South Korea, experience K-pop culture, meet K-pop stars and visit famous tourism venues in the country.
The V-Kpop Superstar was co-organised by Viet Nam Television and its South Korean partners.
